Notes & Combos

Notable Changes From Season 34

I can't believe they banned Prosperity for next month specifically to target me. Completely different build than the Prosperity one because it's not ideal to handtrap war Tenpai.

Talents, Defenser and no Nib have Tenpai in mind. Talents hand rip was almost always the decider vs Tenpai because once you have perfect information, you can prepare for their mix of breakers and hantraps. Three scenarios come to mind that make Talents ideal:

  1. They open mostly non-engine and 1 starter. Shuffle their starter and their non-engine is toothless
  2. They open more than 1 handtrap and a breaker. Usually you can break apart the layers of handtraps that they're relying on and full combo since Desavewurm beats breakers
  3. Shuffle droplet, it's really the only breaker you need to worry about in a hand of all engine

Defenser is both more engine to play through handtraps and removes Black Rose or other breakers as an options. Vs Dark Hole & Lightning Storm you can hold Desavewurm and Defenser instead. Armored Bitron is kind of fake, he's 99% of the time used as a Small World bridge after Nib got cut. Very rarely he is used as a starter for Defenser, since you would need to open this without Circ or Defenser. Gatchiri might just be the inclusion since he gives you more opportunities to search Ash Blossom. Nibiru is likely still good since it's now normal for people to not respect Nibiru when creating anti-Tenpai boards (myself included).

Matchup Breakdown (128 Duels; 68 Heads, 60 Tails)

Due to Tenpai's influence: 79 1st, 49 2nd

  • 32 Tenpai (25%, W/R = 75%)
  • 9 Yubel (7%, W/R = 55%)
  • 7 Tearlament (6.7%, W/R = 42%)

Sample size is smaller but Tenpai still appears to be most represented. There is a lot of diversity in the remaining 75% of non-tenpai decks but they contribute such low amounts to representation. Some honorable mentions are Centur-Ion, Labrynth, Ritual Beasts, and Voiceless Voice (6 each) and Mathmech (5).
